The short feature film “The cage,” which emerged from the intensive directing course “Film Production from A to Z” organized by AUF, has been selected to compete in the “Student Film” category of the prestigious Baku International Film Festival. “The cage” will vie for recognition alongside three other distinguished films, each striving for victory in this category.
The aforementioned project comprised three distinct segments and encompassed a comprehensive three-month instructional period. During the initial ten days of the first two months, the ten participants selected for the project began collaborating closely with the project mentor, Mirbala Salimli, a distinguished member of the Board of AUF, the chief director of the Shaki State Drama Theater, and an accomplished film director. Under his guidance, the participants received training in the multifaceted aspects of film production, including scriptwriting, directing, and dramaturgy, among other pertinent topics. Notably, the script written by project participant Shahin Huseynli during this intensive training was selected for production. In the subsequent third phase, the ten-member team undertook the task of bringing the chosen script to life.
All participants collaboratively undertook both directorial and ancillary roles within the film, functioning as a cohesive creative unit. The responsibilities of 1st AD, editor, costume designer, art director, camera assistants, and other vital roles were collectively executed by the team. The film’s directorial efforts were helmed by all participants—Murad Allahverdi, Farid Ayvazov, Ruhulla Rahimov, Ilaha Nurullayeva, Tural Alasgarli, Shahin Huseynli, Sevinj Guliyeva, Sarkhan Najiyev, Saadat Gurbanova, and Mirtalib Hasanov—while the director of photography, Orkhan Adigozalov, and head teacher, Mirbala Salimli, provided their expertise to elevate the project’s artistic vision.
