AUF as one of the main partners of Sevil International Women`s Documentary Film Festival.
III Sevil International Women’s Documentary Film Festival, of which Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers is one of the main partners, will be held on August 13-20.
Sevil International Women’s Documentary Film Festival, which will be held simultaneously in Baku, Shaki, and Lankaran, is an independent, regional film festival, and the films within the festival program touch on gender issues.
This year’s motto is “Who will go from us to you?” The theme of the festival is exactly based on this motto. This is related to the stereotypes that limit women, and the festival dedicates its activity to break them this time.
The main goal of Sevil is to focus on gender issues in our country through documentaries and discussions. Films selected by the selection committee will compete in the categories of the Best Feature Documentary, Best Short Documentary and Best Local Documentary. In addition, a rich festival program, which includes numerous masterclasses, panel discussions, Q&A sessions after screenings, will wait for cinemagoers.
All films will be screened in their original language with Azerbaijani subtitles and filmmakers from different countries will be guests of the festival. The youth of Baku, Shaki and Lankaran cities will especially involve in the organization of the festival.
Sevil has started cooperation with Germany’s “goEast” film festival within the framework of the 2022 program, and this year’s winning director will receive the right to participate in the “East-West Talent Lab” organized by “goEast” as a result of this cooperation.
The name of the festival is taken from the play “Sevil” by Jafar Jabbarli, who represents women’s freedom in Azerbaijan.
