From September 3 to 8, the IX Baiqonyr International Film Festival was held in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The festival offered a rich tapestry of cinematic works across the globe, categorized into various sections. The international competition showcased an array of short films, while the local competition focused on short films primarily made by students. Additionally, the full-length debut competition featured films from Kazakhstan and its neighboring countries. Notably, the local competition saw a substantial number of entries.
Director Teymur Gambarov represented Azerbaijan at the festival with his feature film, Two Days, which garnered acclaim by winning the award for “Best Cinematography.”
Produced by the Debut studio, Two Days explores the experiences of a small family during the 44-day Patriotic War. This film is a distinguished recipient of the “Great Return” competition, which was organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2021 and considered for short feature, documentary, and animation films.
Starring Malak Bayramli and Tarana Valiyeva, the film was produced by Orkhan Abbasov and Lika Gavrish. Notably, Two Days made its premiere at the 54th Tampere Film Festival in Finland.
