The Azerbaijan Filmmakers Union launched the new season of its “Film days in the districts” project in Lankaran city. On November 3, the event opened at the Lankaran Heydar Aliyev Center with a presentation by actress Gunash Mehdizadeh and continued for four days. During the aforementioned project local cinema enthusiasts had the opportunity to watch six feature and five short films. Among the guests of the event were director Mirsadig Aghazadeh, well-known actors Ilgar Jahangir, Rasim Jafar, Arif Karimov, as well as the protagonists of the film “Return of the projectionist” — Samid Khalilov and Ayaz Khaligov.
Representing contemporary Azerbaijani cinema, the films showcased included Mirsadig Agazadeh’s feature “May Your Home Flourish”, Gulu Asgarov’s “I Am Here, My God!”, Ilgar Najaf’s “Sughra and sons,” and Elvin Adigozal’s “Bilasuvar.” The program also featured two feature-length documentaries — Parviz Hasanov’s “Bashlibel: Siege diary” and Orkhan Agazade’s “Return of the projectionist.” In addition, the following short fiction films were presented: Teymur Gambarov’s “Gukhuroba,” Orkhan Agazade’s “Chairs” Elvin Adigozal’s “Shooting Ms. Rena`s film”, Gulu Asgarov’s “The Fence,” and Emin Afandiyev’s “Monologue of a Lonely Man.” All of these works were received with great interest and attention by the audience in Lankaran.
As tradition, lively discussions followed each screening. Viewers actively shared their impressions, addressed questions to the filmmakers, and expressed their gratitude to the Azerbaijan Filmmakers Union — especially to its chairman, People’s Artist Rasim Balayev — for organizing such an important and meaningful project.
It should be noted that the film screenings took place at the Lankaran Heydar Aliyev Center and Lankaran State University.
