Two volumes of “History of American Cinema” and a book titled “History of German Cinema” by Hamida Omarova, people’s Artist, secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers, professor at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ADMİU), chairperson of the Cinema Actors Guild has been published.
Both books are intended as educational materials. The first volume of “History of American Cinema” covering the years of 1895–1929, explores the origins of American filmmaking and highlights influential directors such as Edwin Porter, David Wark Griffith, Mack Sennett, Charlie Chaplin, among others, who hold a special place in American film history. It also discusses important stages in the development of cinema in the United States during aforementioned period. The second volume, covering 1929–1945, analyzes significant events, key figures, genres, and trends that shaped the sound era of American cinema.
The author’s next book, “History of German Cinema,” addresses significant trends in German cinema from the inception of filmmaking in Germany in 1895 up to the period preceding the First World War.
It is worth noting that all publication costs for these books were fully covered by the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers.
