The Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers has acquired the Azerbaijani translation and publication rights for five years to the world-renowned bestseller “Screenplay – The Foundations of Screenwriting” by Syd Field — marking it the first time in the history of Azerbaijani cinema.
Originally published in 1979, the book sold half a million copies by 2003. It is widely used as a textbook in over 400 universities and colleges around the world.
The author, an internationally acclaimed screenwriter, producer, mentor, lecturer, and writer of several bestselling books, has seen his aforementioned booktranslated into 22 languages to date — Azerbaijani will be the 23rd.
He has been a script consultant for Roland Jaffe’s film production company, 20th Century Fox, the Disney Studios, Universal Pictures, and Tri-Star Pictures, and was the American Screenwriting Association’s first inductee into the Screenwriting Hall of Fame.
