The Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers’ “Cinema Days in the Regions” project was hosted by Bilasuvar district from June 19 to 21. Screenings took place at the cinema club of the Haydar Aliyev Center, in the reading hall of the Bilasuvar District Central Library, as well as in several villages.
Audiences were presented the feature film “I Am Here, God!” and the short film “The Fence” by Gulu Asgarov, feature films – “May your home prosper” by Mirsadig Aghazadeh, “The Actor” by Aydin Arslan, “Monologue of a lonely man” Emin Afandiyev. The program also included short feature films – “Breath” by Elmar Bayramov, “The Little” by Ruslan Aghazadeh, “The Chairs” by Orkhan Aghzadeh, short documentaries – “A Childhood Photo” by Parviz Hasanov, and “The big red house” by Leyla Ganbarli. As is customary, audience shared their impressions and thoughts following the screenings.
On June 19 and 20, the head of the Bilasuvar District Executive Power, Faig Gurbatov, also attended the screenings of “The Actor” and “May your home prosper” at the Heydar Aliyev Center. In his opening remarks, Mr. Gurbatov noted that the Bilasuvar Executive Power also holds regular weekly film screenings every Thursday. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering cultural enrichment and expanding outlook. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers and, in particular, to its chairman, People’s Artist Rasim Balayev, for launching and realizing such a meaningful project. As a memento, he presented a small carpet inscribed with the name “Bilasuvar” to the Unoin.
At the event, the Regional Chair of the Azerbaijan Union of Journalists and writer, Shafahat Hasanov, also mentioned the importance of the Cinema Days initiative in his speech.
On the final day of the screenings, film events were held at the Art club of Tezekend village and the Village folklore club of Narimankend, both located in Bilasuvar District. Residents of Tazekend watched and discussed “The Chairs” and “I Am Here, God!”, while “Monologue of a Lonely Man” and “The Big Red House” was for those in Narimankend.
Several actors also took part in the three-day “Cinema Days in Bilasuvar” event. Among them were Gunay Hasan, who played the character Sevinj—one of the lead roles in “I Am Here, God!”; Samimi Farhad, lead actor in “The Actor”; director Mahir Darvish, who portrayed the father in “Monologue of a Lonely Man” and Allahveran Babayev, one of the actor in “The Chairs” and also a member of the Lankaran State Drama Theatre.
During the post-screening discussions, the actors answered audience questions and spoke about the significance of the Cinema Days in the Regions role in promoting local films.
