TRT 12 Punto is the largest platform organized by Turkey’s national broadcaster TRT since 2019, focusing on script development and international co-production. The platform brings together international screenwriters, producers, and experts, facilitating support for projects from both Turkey and other countries.
The feature film “Ölü Həsən” (“Dead Hasan”), directed and produced by Turkan Huseyn, secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers, is among the winners of the “TRT 12 Punto” film project competition. The project has received a grant from the platform.
The film, a co-production between Azerbaijan and Turkey, follows the story of Hasan, who is mistakenly declared dead but then regains consciousness. The villagers come to believe that he possesses mystical powers. The subsequent events unfold around Hasan, and the screenplay develops within this mystical atmosphere. Alongside elements of mystical realism, the film also blends drama, thriller, and dark humor. The cast includes Gurban Ahmadov, Natavan Abbasli, Gurban Ismayilov, Turkay Jafarli, Orkhan Iskandarli, Ulvi Hashem, Ramil Mammadov, Matlab Abushov, Sevinj Aliyeva, Eltakin Khan, Nigar Mammadova, Aziza Hasimli, and Vagif Karimov.
The producers of the film, a joint project of the Azerbaijan Film Agency (ARKA), Ultra Production, Poetika Film (Turkey), the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers, and Public Television, are Emil Najafov, Parviz Mammədov, and Ali Isa Jabbarov. The co-producers are Emrah Kilich, Sevinj Aliyeva, while the executive producers are Elmaddin Aliyev and Duyghu Davali. The screenplay is written by Turkan Huseyn, with co-author Ismayıl İman. The director of photography is by Vasif Valizadeh, the production design by Turan Yusifova, the 1st AD by Asif Isgandarli, the sound by Emin Mahmudov while the gaffer is Ali Abilov, the focus puller – Ruhin Mirzayev, and the makeup artist – Adila Aliyeva.
