The short fiction film “The trial”, produced as a graduation film within the “Colorful dreams of Black and white Letters” filmmaking project by the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers, has won the award for Best Student Film at the Baku International Film Festival.
It should be noted that the artistic supervisor of the project is film director Rovshan Isakh, a member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers. The film is directed by Orkhan Babayev, with a screenplay written by Fidan Magbet, Chinara Alishli, Mirhafiz Hasanov, and Orkhan Babayev. The assistant director is Sabina Jafarova. The production designer is Toghrul Mastalizadeh, while Laman Aghayeva served as the costume designer and makeup artist. The directing team includes Mirhafiz Hasanov, Elvin Abdullayev, and Izzetkhanim Jabbarli. The film’s music was composed by Nigar Suleyman, and the editing by Huseyn Valiyev.
The aforementioned film was produced during the practical phase of the project. The writing of the director’s screenplay, the creation of the storyboard, location scouting and preparation for filming, as well as all pre-production work, were carried out during the Gabala city stage of the project.
The cast includes Honored Artists Ilgar Jahangir and Ilham Huseynov, along with Elshad Suleyman, an actor from the Russian Drama Theater.
A distinctive feature of this film production project is that the core of the shooting crew consists of young and emerging talents. The film’s director, production designer, costume designer and makeup artist, composer, screenwriters, editor, and other team members are all project participants.
It is noteworthy that another participant in the AUF’s screenwriting workshops, Rana Ahmadova, received the Jury Diploma at a local competition for her film “Loca Tacentia.”
