The XX International Kazan Film Festival, known as the “Golden Minbar,” will take place from September 6 to 12. Filmmakers from 40 countries will participate, and over 140 films will be screened during the festival.
The jury for the NETPAC section of the festival’s competition program comprises an esteemed panel of professionals. Maxim Kazyuchits, a film historian, film theorist, journalist, and candidate of philosophical sciences, serves as the leading researcher at the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov (VGIK) (Russia); Alfiya Yarosh, a sound engineer and Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan, a member of Russia Union of Filmmakers and a veteran of Tatarstan’s film industry (Russia, Tatarstan);Nadir Badalov, an art critic, pedagogue, and member of the Board member of Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers ( Azerbaijan). Nadir Badalov is chairperson of NETPAC Award jury.
At the same time, it is worth noting that Azerbaijan is represented by two films at the festival. Ali-Sattar Guliyev’s feature film When the Stadiums Are Silent will be presented in the “Russia-Islamic World” program, while Erturan Najafi Gol’s documentary Nowruz will be screened out of competition.
Additionally, it is important to mention that Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers has been a member of the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) since 2022.
