A significant milestone has occurred for Azerbaijan’s film industry. The Azerbaijan Producers Guild (APG) has been officially admitted as a fully accredited member of one of the world’s most prestigious cinematic institutions — FIAPF (the International Federation of Film Producers Associations). The membership will become formally active on January 1, 2026.
The accession of the Azerbaijan Producers Guild to FIAPF represents a strategic advancement toward enhancing the international recognition and strengthening the global standing of Azerbaijani cinema.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Producers Guild, Mushfig Hatamov, commented on the matter:
“Membership in FIAPF creates expansive opportunities to align the work of Azerbaijani producers with internationally recognized standards and to integrate them into the global film market. This marks a moment of historic significance, both in terms of ensuring more solid protection of producers’ rights and attracting foreign investment into local film projects, as well as increasing participation in international co-production initiatives. Azerbaijani cinema is now represented on the same platform as the world’s leading film nations.”
The Azerbaijan Producers Guild intends to utilize this newly acquired status to intensify its activities in the following strategic directions:
• To achieve advancements in the sphere of international legislation concerning authors’ rights, producers’ rights, and film production.
• To promote Azerbaijani cinema more proactively to foreign producers, distributors, and investors through the FIAPF network.
The Azerbaijan Producers Guild is a Public Association that brings together the country’s leading film and television producers. The organization’s principal mission is to safeguard the rights of its members, advocate for their professional interests, support the development of the national audiovisual industry, and promote international cooperation within the audiovisual sector.
