The Winners of “I Am a Woman” feature film script competition by AUF have been announced. The jury of the Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers “I Am a Woman” feature film script competition has concluded its activities.
One of the main goals of organizing the competition was to increase the number of scripts that fully and authentically portray the image of the modern Azerbaijani woman, to boost the activity of female authors, and to promote a call for harmony in gender relations within our society.
The chair of the jury, Vidadi Hasanov, along with members Nadir Badalov, Vagif Azaryar, and Sevda Sultanova, selected 71 scripts out of the 96 submissions. Importantly, this year the number of female authors applying to the competition is equal to that of male authors, unlike in previous years. Naturally, one of the key goals of organizers was to increase the participation of female writers.
We hereby announce the winners of the “I Am a Woman” feature film script competition:
1st place – Rustam Babazadeh and Ali-Sattar Guliyev, “The Bride”
2nd place – Chinara Alishli, “Pawn Towards the Queen”
3rd place – Samed Aghayev, “The Lights of the neighbor’s house”
In addition, by the jury’s decision, three scripts were also awarded diplomas (the titles of the scripts are presented here in alphabetical order by their initials).
Haji Safarov, “Nigar’s House” (For a successful dramaturgical structure resolution of a current social issue)
Intigam Hajili, “The job-seeking girl” (For a bold artistic approach in expressing the drama of a female character confronting social problems)
Ulviya Haydarova, “The face” (For a successful artistic resolution of the relationship between family happiness and civic duty)
The Secretariat of the AUF expresses its gratitude to all authors who participated in the competition. The Secretariat stated that they consider the script competition as a mechanism that can contribute to the development of our national cinema, and with this goal in mind, they plan to organize script competitions on various themes and formats annually.
It is important to highlight that the winners will be awarded with diplomas and cash prizes. (1st place – 5000 AZN, 2nd place – 3500 AZN, 3rd place – 2500 AZN)
