Last August, it was announced that the Izzət Cinema Awards would be established. The winners of the Izzat Cinema Awards will be revealed in the near future. The official design of the award is now complete. The sketch, created by artist-animator Sevinc Guliyeva, is inspired by a synthesis of the characters SevilandAlmaz, portrayed by the first national actress of Azerbaijan, Izzət Orujova. The poster captures both the rebellion and national identity of Azerbaijani women through elements such as the kalagayi (traditional headscarf), details of national dress, and uncovered hair. Surrounded by film reels, the figure on the poster represents the feminine face of Azerbaijani cinema.
The award was established by director and producer Afag Yusifli, international relations and project manager of Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers. The project is one of the ten winners of the Azad Mirzajanzadeh Development Program’s second wave of 2025. Among its official partners are the AUF and the Young Filmmakers Association.As stated by the founder, the jury composition and preliminary shortlist are already finalized. Work is currently underway on the award’s production and final organizational details. Announcements regarding the jury members and award categories will be announced soon.
