Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers holds a conference
The long-awaited conference of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers (AUFM) has eventually taken place. On the 16th of June 2019, members of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers came together to discuss the agenda of the conference, the AUFM Regulations, and criteria for the election of AUFM Board members.
Opening the event, Ali Isa Jabbarov, an AUFM secretary, congratulated members of the Union upon gathering together for the first time, after a break of many years, announced the commencement of a likely successful period of time and subsequently passed the floor over to Rustam Ibrahimbayov, the AUFM chairman, for a keynote speech.
For his part, Mr Ibrahimbayov welcomed the audience and highlighted the restoration of AUFM activities: “The activity of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers, an institution that is renowned for its great history, has been always the focus of attention, and hence AUFM has been in the limelight, with what it is doing and producing. The reason behind our gathering today is our ability to be at the helm of what we are doing, and our determination to play a great role for the sake of development of the cinema of Azerbaijan.”
Following Mr Ibrahimbayov’s keynote address, Mr Jabbarov submitted the newly drafted AUFM Regulations for the approval of the audience, with the corresponding proposals, including an issue of convening the AUFM Congress, brought up for discussion by participants.
Finally the conference voted for a new composition of AUFM Board and Secretariat. The newly elected Board is composed of:

Asad Asadov – sound producer, Honored Worker of Culture of Azerbaijan
Rasim Balayev – actor, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, holder of Şöhrət (“fame”) and Şərəf (“honour”) Orders, personal fellow of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
Baba Vaziroglu – poet, prose writer, screenwriter, Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
Firangiz Gurbanova – artistic director, animation director, Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan
Ali Isa Jabbarov – film director, scriptwriter, producer, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
Rustam Ibrahimbayov – playwright, director, producer, People’s Writer of Azerbaijan, holder of Şöhrət (“fame”) Order, and a member of the American Film Academy
Mabud Maharramov – actor, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan
Hamida Omarova – actor, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan
Anar Rzayev (Anar) – writer, director, scriptwriter, People’s Writer of Azerbaijan, holder of İstiqlal (“independence”) Order, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
Oleg Safaraliyev – director, scriptwriter, producer, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
Jamil Farajov – director, Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR, and a secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers
